Roberta's Garden

Roberta's garden grows food in Bushwick.
Scarlet Runner Bean Flowers
We all love tasty, snappy scarlet runner beans but did you know that you can also eat the bright scarlet flower before it produces a bean? Roberta’s Scarlet Runner Beans are quickly growing up the spine of our hoop house, and we are promptly snipping the flowers before they produce beans. Why? Because we love the mild and crisp bean flavor of the flower and the exciting splash of scarlet it lends to our dishes.

Spring is here! Check out this video of our Garden getting ready to Spring into action!!

ROBERTA’S GARDEN LIVES AGAIN

Having explored the wet (vegetable) markets by day searching for new varietals and eating copious amounts of street market food and MSG at night, our gardener is back from her winter break in Asia ready to start the growing season. In Hong Kong she stumbled around fish farms in the middle of the night to watch the harvest, snuck up onto rooftop farms in busy industrial sections, and hung out with the characters/activists that make up the urban farming community. All in hopes to bring back something new to Roberta’s garden. Look out for Roberta’s garden this spring!
